The work of Eric Reyes-Lamothe is mainly conceptual in character and derives form observations on the possibilities of a community to manifest itself as body or mass. He works on series that are elaborated and take form in long periods of time, some of them to be revised in the future. Among these are the Minimal Multitudes, a series that have moved through diverse formats, where the artist explores the crowds, seeking for a poetic sense on such events, and that –as he explains– does not only represent a conglomerate of people, but a starting point where small amounts of information are transformed into something else.
Crowds in Reyes-Lamothe are at once object and methodology. Their principal reflection is a discourse of masses, where democracy is just one derivation on the theme. He questions object’s cultural ends.
